Самая сильная комбинация в покере

What is it? The strongest hand in poker is Royal Flush. These are five consecutive cards of the same suit from Ten to Ace. However, the chance of making such a combo is almost non-existent, and much more often you win with weaker hands.

How to play? When playing strong hands, it is important to be able to read opponents, calculate the chances of getting certain runouts. Also, you should not immediately show everyone that you’ve made a Royal Flush, you need to moderate your emotions and make your move at the right time.

The Difference between a Hand and a Combination in Poker

Many people do not know that such concepts as “hand” and “combination” are not synonymous. These terms have different meanings:

  • A combination is what you try to make in poker, could be a pair or a full house, and you need a set of cards for that, from 2 to 5.
  • A hand is a combination of 5 cards specifically, where both hole and common cards are used. Hands is what compared to determine who wins.

Players dealt two hole cards each. To make a hand, at least three common cards should also be used. Often, common cards determine the outcome of the hand and the ones that can change everything.

The Strongest Hand in Poker

For example, in Hold’em, a player makes a pair of threes. In this game, you have seven cards you can use, but you form a hand out of five of them. Because of this, the player is forced to pick five cards that are the best. For example, in addition to a pair of three a player also has Q, J and T in his hand.

As a result, the player’s hand consists of a combination that is Pair of Threes and three additional cards that make no combo.

The Strongest Hand in Poker

What is the strongest hand in poker? The answer is simple: Royal Flush. This hand consists of five consecutive cards of the same suit, starting from ten and ending with an ace.

The probability of getting it is very small. Even professional players rarely get a Royal Flush. To form such a set of cards, you need not only good playing skills, but also a lot of luck.

When making a Royal Flush, it is important to develop a strategy that will maximize your winnings. You should not play too aggressively, as this can scare off your opponents. They may suspect that you have a strong hand and fold their hand early in the game. Wait until the pot has grown significantly before making a move, for example, going all-in.

In 1994, American Alex Hemstry collected the strongest hand in poker twice in one day in a Las Vegas casino. This fact still amazes the imagination, since getting such a set of cards even once is already a big deal.

The Chance of Making the Strongest Hand in Poker

The odds of making a Royal Flush depend on many factors, including the number of players and hands, as well as the number of decks. We’ll simplify the problem and consider a standard poker game with five common cards (e.g. Texas Hold’em) and one deck of 52 cards.

To make a Royal Flush, you need to get five consecutive cards of the same suit from Ten to Ace. Let’s assess the number of possible combinations in one hand:

  • There are 4 suits in the deck and, therefore, 4 options for making a combination.
  • The number of ways to get 5 cards out of 13 cards of the same suit (from 10 to Ace) is calculated by the formula: C (13, 5) = 13! / (5! * (13-5)!) = 1287.

It turns out that the total number of possible Royal Flushes in one deck is equal to the product of these two numbers, i.e. 5148.

Let’s analyze the probability of making the strongest combination in poker during one hand. In Hold’em, each player receives two cards known only to him, after which five common cards are opened on the board. Considering that to make a Royal Flush, you need to use two cards from the player’s hand and three from the common ones, the probability of this event in one hand is calculated through the following formula:

Odds = (Number of Royal Flushes in the deck) / (Number of possible combinations of 5 cards)

Having calculated the number of card combinations in the deck, we find out that the probability of making a Royal Flush in one hand is approximately 0.02%. This is a very small chance. The minimal probability of getting such hand and its strength make Royal Flush the strongest combination in poker.

Poker Hand Ranking Rules

Each poker session begins with mandatory bets and card dealing. In online poker, all this happens automatically. Players can only choose their next steps.

When the starting hands are dealt, players can act in different ways. The most profitable position is the Button, as it gives the opportunity to observe the opponents’ actions before making your own. In case of receiving a good starting hand, it is worth trying to force opponents to increase the size of the pot.

After seeing three common cards, the poker player already has some sort of a hand. If this is a Royal Flush, then it’s done for you, you have the best hand whatever happens next. So your only concern is to make other players put money into the pot.

If you didn’t make Royal Flush from the get go, but you have a draw, then the chances of improving are still okay and you should not fold right away. After you see the fourth and fifth cards, the overall picture will become clearer. Players can use any combination of hole and common cards. In Omaha, two of the four hole cards are mandatory to use in every hand. This increases the level of unpredictability. It becomes more difficult for players to calculate the potential strength of their opponents’ hands.

In older editions of poker, there usually was just one deal where players get a certain number of cards. In some cases, poker players were allowed to make one or more changes.

The chances of two players getting the strongest combination in poker are so small that it is not worth talking about. An exception is the situation when a Royal Flush completes on the board from 5 common cards. In this case, the pot is split between all players who still remain in the hand.

Two poker players can get the same combination of lesser strength. In such cases, special rules are used to determine the winner. First, ranks of cards are compared. The highest rank wins. The suits of the cards do not matter in this case, but they are important for making some combos (Royal Flush, for example). If two players make Quads, the kickers are compared.

The probability that they will be equal is very small, although it can happen and in this case, sometimes people used to draw one card from the deck for each player. The one who gets the highest card wins. But even if both cards are of the same rank, then the pot is split evenly between the two.

How to Play the Strongest Hand in Poker Correctly

To play a Royal Flush successfully, it is important to develop the right strategy. You need to be able to analyze the behavior of your opponents, control the bets, and find a balance between aggression and passiveness.

  • Analyze your hand and the common cards on the board. Make sure that you have all the required cards to make a Royal Flush. Could be 3 cards on the board and 2 in your hand, or 4 and 1.
  • Watch the actions of your opponents. Analyze how they make their bets. Very large bets often indicate a strong hand. In such a situation, you need to maximize your profit by raising the bets or even calling them to incentivize other players to stay in the hand. Don’t reveal your strong hand at the beginning of the game. You don’t want to make your opponents suspicious, otherwise you can scare them off. It’s better to gradually increase the pot size in each round. Opponents will think that you are trying to make a strong hand, although you have already collected the strongest combination in poker.
  • Bluff. In some cases, bluffing can be a very profitable tactic. For example, when you can represent a very strong or the strongest hand in poker, although you don’t really have it.
  • Control the size of your bets. As already noted, you should not give away your combination right away. Therefore, you should bet such a number of chips as to interest other players in staying in the hand.

  • Be prepared to adapt your strategy. During the game, unexpected complications may arise that will require flexibility from you. For example, the appearance of an additional card of the same suit on the table can change your hand and force you to reconsider your tactical moves.

Be cool-headed, analyze the specifics of your opponents’ playing style and use Royal Flush wisely to increase your winnings.

Why You Should Hold a Royal Flush

Slowplaying a strong hand is a common strategy among poker players aimed at maximizing their profit. This strategy is popular for several reasons:

  • Ability to attract bets from opponents. Showing a strong hand early can lead to other poker players folding. This will reduce the profit from the hand. The main goal of the holder of a Royal Flush is to earn as many chips as possible, so it is necessary to keep opponents interested in staying in the game.
  • Creating a false impression of weakness. When you make weak moves, opponents think that you do not have a very strong hand. This attracts them to make aggressive bets. Some opponents may even start bluffing. Correct use of this strategy will help increase the number of chips in the pot.
  • Reducing risk. The less information about your hand your opponents have, the more likely they are to misjudge your hand and make the wrong decision, staying in the game. If your opponents suspect that you have the strongest and combination in poker, they will be more cautious.
  • The opportunity to strengthen your hand. During the game, there is always a chance to improve your hand on following streets, but not with a Royal Flush of course. However, even with a quite strong combination, you should not lose your vigilance. It is important to watch the cards on the table and the bets of your opponents. This way, you can maximize the size of the pot.

Thus, by concealing the strength of your hand, you can get the greatest benefit.

Common Mistakes of Poker Beginners

Usually inexperienced players make the same mistakes when making different combinations. Let’s take a look at the most common ones.

  • Playing every hand.

Beginners do not pay due attention to their hands and try to participate in every hand. It is important to understand that in poker you should always be careful.

Your main goal is not just to reach the end of the game, but to win. Therefore, evaluate your cards: sometimes it is better to fold them than to lose many chips due to an incorrect assessment of the initial situation.

  • Relying too much on improving their hand and pure luck.

Inexperienced players often play until the very end, hoping to improve their hand. You need to be able to analyze what is happening and stop in time, making a fold. In some cases, the only correct decision is to give up.

  • Falling victim to emotions.

The more coldblooded you are during the game, the better. This will allow you to watch what is happening and make informed decisions. Otherwise, you can make big mistakes or show your emotions and scare off players when you really have it.

If you are tired or disappointed after several losses, it is better to end the game to avoid losing even more.
